Phase 1 Sunrise Periode 1 Start december 7th 2005
Prior to the start of registration under .eu there will be a "sunrise period". This period will start december 7th 2005 and will last two months. During this period holders of registered national trademarks and registered community (EU) trademarks, the full name of a public body, the acronym by which a public body is commonly know, if applicable, the territory which is governed by a public body and Geographical indications, will have the opportunity to apply for the registration of the corresponding .eu domain name. EURid will act accordingly to the principle of "first come first serve" if there are multiple valid applications. Pine can try to register your .eu domain during this period if you are a trademark holder. There is an extra fee for an application during Sunrise 1, the costs are Euro 65,00. Be aware that you will be charged with this fee even if the registration fails.
Phase 2 Sunrise Periode 2 Start february 7th 2006
This period will also last two months. During phase 2 holders of certain rights that correspond with the following criteria will be able to apply for the corresponding .eu domain name: 1. the names listed in phase 1 2. other rights that are protected under the national law of the member state where they are held such as: company names, business identifiers, distinctive titles of protected literary and artistic work, unregistered trademarks and trade names. EURid will act accordingly to the principle of "first come first serve" if there are multiple valid applications. Pine can try to register your .eu domain during this period if you are holder of a right mentioned above. There is an extra fee for an application during Sunrise 2, the costs are Euro 105,00. Be aware that you will be charged with this fee even if the registration fails.
Phase 3 Open Registration Start april 7th 2006
4 months after the start of the first sunrise period the registration will be opened. This is probably at the beginning of the year 2006. At this time the .eu domain is a fact. During this period Pine will register all domains that weren't blocked or registered during the sunrise periods. Of course the well know principle of "first come, first serve" also applies to this phase. Phase 3 starts at the same time for all registrars. That is why we offer the possibility to pre-register already. If despite our effort your application doens't arrive as first at EURid Pine naturally won't charge you with the onetime administration costs.
